The extra meeting of the health insurance fund decided on the division
The extra meeting of the health insurance fund on 5.12.2025 decided, that the fund will be divided into two separate insurance funds.
Employees belonging to the circular economy businesses will be transferred to the new L&T Health Insurance Fund on the effective date of the demerger, 31 December 2025 (the costs incurred on 31 December 2025 will still be paid from the current fund).
The new L&T Health Fund will start as a supplementary fund until the requirements for a workplace fund under the Health Insurance Act are met. At the beginning of the year, the insured will receive a new Kela card to their home address without a workplace fund number. The old Kela card can be used until the new card has arrived. When dealing with the contract location, you can tell that the information about the workplace fund is not valid.
After the turn of the year, those insured under the new L&T Health Insurance Fund will receive Kela reimbursement for medicines reimbursed by Kela at the pharmacy, but the deductible must be applied from the fund. Ask the pharmacy for a medication calculation (including name and personal identification number) and a receipt so that the reimbursement process goes smoothly without delay.
When the workplace fund starts operating, the insured will automatically receive a new Kela card with the number of the new fund on the back.
Employees belonging to the facility services businesses will continue to be insured in the fund to be distributed. The demerger will not affect remuneration or invoicing agreements. The name of the fund will be changed to Luotea Health Insurance Fund. The fund's contact information will change, the new contact information will be found later on the fund's website.
FAQ
My employment began on June 15, 2024. When will I receive reimbursement for dental care or eyeglasses?
You are eligible for dental care or eyeglasses reimbursement after one year of membership. Membership begins six months after the start of your employment. Your membership began on December 15, 2024, so you will receive reimbursement for dental care expenses incurred on or after December 15, 2025. Reimbursement for eyeglasses will be available for those purchased on or after December 15, 2025.
I paid €182.80 for a dental filling at a private clinic and received reimbursement from the fund amounting to €118.92. The reimbursement was supposed to be 80%.
The invoice indicates that the entire cost of the filling was €169.90, from which the clinic deducted a Kela reimbursement of €17. The 80% reimbursement is calculated based on the total cost of €169.90. You will be paid €169.90 * 80% - €17 = €118.92. The Kela reimbursement you already received at the clinic is deducted from the payable reimbursement. If the clinic does not deduct the Kela reimbursement, you should submit the application via Kela’s e-service at www.kela.fi/omakela. In this case, the fund will pay you the reimbursement, but you will have paid the Kela reimbursement amount at the clinic. No reimbursement is provided for the office/clinic fee of €29.90 according to the rules.
Does the fund reimburse the removal of moles or other skin changes performed in the private sector?
The removal of moles or other skin changes in the private sector is invoiced as a medical procedure. The fund's rules do not mention reimbursement for procedure fees, so the fund does not cover these costs. The same applies to procedures such as nail removal, skin laser treatment, or similar procedures, even if they are performed for medical reasons.
Will I receive reimbursement for all tests prescribed by a doctor that are conducted in the private sector?
Reimbursement is conditional upon the test being listed in the examination list approved by the board.
Will I receive reimbursement for all dental expenses incurred at a private clinic?
Reimbursement requires that the examination and treatment are eligible for Kela reimbursement. For example, a basic oral examination may only be eligible for Kela reimbursement every other year. The dentist determines how often the examination is necessary.
How often can I receive reimbursement for eyeglasses? I'm not sure when I last received reimbursement for eyeglasses; how can I check this?
You can receive reimbursement for eyeglasses once every third calendar year. If you received reimbursement for eyeglasses in 2023, you can get reimbursed again in 2026, regardless of the exact date. Please contact the fund to verify when the reimbursement was last paid.
Does the health fund provide reimbursement when I visit a private doctor or specialist?
The fund reimburses 80% of the consultation fees for specialists for up to four visits per calendar year. If you are charged separately for a procedure performed during the consultation, the fund does not cover this cost. For general practitioner fees, only the Kela portion is reimbursed.
I am taking unpaid childcare leave after parental leave. Am I entitled to reimbursements paid by the health fund during my childcare leave?
Membership is suspended during the childcare leave, so you are not entitled to additional benefits paid by the fund. If, despite the suspension, you receive benefits such as free medication from the pharmacy, the fund will send an invoice for the additional benefit paid to your home.
Who is responsible for notifying the fund about childcare leave or job alternation leave?
The information is most reliably delivered if you contact the fund yourself.
My working hours have decreased, yet the membership fee is still being deducted from my salary?
Please contact the fund to determine if the membership criteria are still being met. Similarly, if your working hours increase such that the membership criteria would be fulfilled again, please contact the fund yourself.
I received a letter from the fund stating that my membership has started, but I haven't received my Kela card yet. How can I get reimbursements, for example, at the pharmacy?
First, pay the costs yourself and then apply for reimbursement from the fund. The letter you received includes the start date of your membership, and you can bring the letter with you to the pharmacy. Some pharmacies and other service providers accept the letter as proof of fund membership and bill the fund directly. New Kela cards can only be ordered from the beginning of the month following the start date of membership, so there will always be some delay.
